Los Perritos is a small-format zine presents a series of nine photographs featuring plastic dog figurines, each obtained from a capsule toy machine stationed outside a mom-and-pop deli in East Harlem. All nine dogs were dispensed at random. While mass-produced and anonymous in origin, each figure gained new life through a process of recontextualization in a controlled studio environment. Under directed lighting and a purple backdrop, the dogs interact with one another to suggest relationships, tensions, affections, and imagined backstories.
